Curious about double knitting but not quite sure how it works? In this workshop we’ll learn the magic of knitting two sides of your work at once with no visible wrong side. We’ll also cover ways to keep your edges tidy, casting on with two colors, how to read double knitting charts, and work up the Bridgerton Cowl!

Date/Time: Friday, September 25, 2026 6:00-9:00 PM

Supplies:

  • 2 Highly Contrasting Shades of Worsted-Weight Yarn (200yds/180m each color) – no fuzzy, novelty, or highly variegated fibers
  • Size US 5 (3.75mm) 20” Circular Knitting Needles
  • Size US 6 (4mm) 20” Circular Knitting Needles
  • Stitch Markers
  • Sticky Notes
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Copy of Bridgerton Cowl pattern available at TanisKnits or Ravelry

Homework: (CC1 is pink and CC2 is blue in the sample)

With smaller needles and yarns held together (one strand of each color), cable cast on 130 sts (this will look like 260 sts, but the yarns are held together, so we count it as 130). Keep your color order consistent across the cast on edge: the lighter color of the pair on the right and the darker color of the pair on the left. See link for help, if needed Knitting Help - Cable Cast-On.

Skill Level: Intermediate – Colorwork experience not necessary, but helpful. Ability to knit and purl in the round, confident working two strands of yarn at once.
