With any project requiring color combinations, our hope and desire is to make something beautiful and pleasing to the eye. The art of putting colors together can be most satisfying or very frustrating. In this class, we will look at combining color using different tools - color wheel, seasonal colors, and art along with practical ways to approach color. The fun part will be to put into practice what we've learned, that is, to "play." From our play time, a swatch (yes, I said swatch, just a small one) will be created to see how the colors work together. Come and have fun!
Supplies:
- Bring your odd-yardage leftover yarn, small balls for our “play” time! The more we have, the more colors we can choose from for color practice.
- Bring various colors of yarn (or plan to purchase yarn at the KDO market) for either: 1) a project you’ve wanted to make + want to work out color combinations; or 2: choose colors for a simple (DK) striped cowl. Pattern to be provided in class – tools needed: Size 6 needle for DK or size required for 5sts/1” gauge.
- If you have a Color Wheel bring it with you. A pocket color wheel will be available for $3.75 in class (purchase is optional).
- Also available (and optional) will be yarn kits to knit a color wheel. Cost will be no more than $14. Tools required: Size 5 DPN’s, or size needed for a gauge of 5 stitches/inch.
- Tapestry needle and scissors
Homework: None
Skill Level: Beginner: Can knit, purl, cast on and cast off.
