Everyone loves a cabled scarf, but nobody likes when the plain or bumpy reverse side shows. In this class explore ways to incorporate advanced cabling techniques on both sides of a scarf. We will start by combining cables with double knitting and color. Then we will look at how to work slipstitch cables over a garter stitch background.

Supplies:
- Worsted weight yarn (stash yarn is great)
- 2 - 50g balls of highly contrasting colors for the double-knit cable swatch
- 50g light, solid color for the slipstitch cable swatch.
- US 7 needles (or in the size you normally use for worsted weight yarn)
- US 5 needles (or two sizes smaller than you normally use for worsted weight yarn)
- US 10 needles (or three sizes larger than you normally use for worsted weight yarn)
- Cable needle
- Sticky notes or highlighting tape
- Yarn or thread suitable for use as a lifeline

Stitch markers.
- Patterns for both scarves will be provided by email prior to class.
Homework:
- For slipstitch cable scarf:
- Using size 10 needle, cast on 36 sts.
- Row 1: (k1, sl 1 wyif) 2x, (k1, p2, k1) 7x, (k1, sl 1 wyif) 2x.
- Row 2: (k1, sl 1 wyif) 2x, (p1, k2, p1) 7x, (k1, sl 1 wyif) 2x.
- Repeat rows 1 & 2 three more times, or until one inch long.
- Mark Side 1.

For double-knit cable scarf, no homework.
Skill Level: Intermediate: must be familiar with cabling; knowledge of double knitting is a plus, but not required
