stitches to result in not-to-be-ignored patterning.

CLOSED GCC. Slip-Stitch Savvy, Kathy Zimmerman
Intermediate
Slip-stitch colorwork technique is an easy way for beginners and experienced
knitters alike to add color and texture to their projects. Slip-stitch patterns use
only one color per row, so complicated-looking patterns can be mastered
quickly. Kathy will discuss the how-tos for working this technique, hints for
choosing colors and yarns, as well as tips for interpreting instructions. The
“hands on” class project is Kathy’s tweed-stitch hat which experiments with
color combinations as the student learns the technique.

DD. What Size do I Knit? Alice Bish
All levels
Have you fallen in love with a sweater pattern, then felt stumped when it
came time to decide what size to make for yourself? Have you knit something
perfectly, matching the gauge exactly, and then afterward felt you should have
knit a size larger or smaller? Just as a medium in one brand of clothing will fit
differently than a medium in another brand, a medium according to one de-
signer will fit differently than a medium from another designer. Here is help
in picking the what size to knit. In this class we will measure our upper bodies,
draw a sloper. We will discuss how to factor in ease for the yarn, and style of
sweater. The class is for women only. Materials fee: $3

CLOSED EE. Toe Up Socks, Rae-Ann Lentz
Intermediate
Students will make a toe up sock in worsted weight yarn. We will cover cast

the benefits of toe up sock knitting and why some sock knitters won’t knit
them any other way.

FF. So you want to Ravel? Beth Lutz

working both sides simultaneously.

CLOSED JJ. Caplet From Long Ago, Gladys Shue
Intermediate
This caplet is from so long ago (but loved even today) that there wasn’t a
pattern for it. A pattern was made by the teacher, and can be taken back to
your guilds for a charity project. Ladies in assisted living or nursing homes
will appreciate them. For yourself it can be for a special night out - it depends
on the yarn used. A miniature will be made In class.

KK. Shadow Knitting, Cynthia Spencer

images. From the front, the knitting looks striped. From the side, you can see
a design. This class will show you how to achieve this intriguing effect!

CLOSED LL. Why Doesn’t Mine Look Like That? Knitting Gauge and Blocking, Lisa Stuart
All levels
You followed the pattern, yet, it doesn’t look like the sweater in the photo!
This class will cover how to measure gauge and how to properly block and
finish garments so that your knitting looks its best. We will discuss how gauge
measurement applies to your knitting and how good gauge and blocking cre-
ates a handmade garment rather than a homemade garment. Topics of dis-
cussion will include how to measure gauge and many useful techniques for
blocking various types of yarns. Bring your own finished and unblocked work
for class discussion.

down. Materials fee: $5

CLOSED PP. Short Rows Shoulders and Sleeve Caps, Susan Wolcott
